Prosecutors have charged a man from the southern town Capljina who is currently being held in custody for smuggling a half a tonne of cannabis, Bosnia’s Prosecutor's Office said on Friday.
Vinko ‘Bugarin’ Milosevic (60) is accused of joining an organised crime group which also included people from Montenegro and Croatia, in 2019.
The group would allegedly procure, store and smuggle the cannabis from Montenegro through Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia to countries in the EU.
Milosevic allegedly stored the 500 kilograms of the cannabis, which has a street value of several tens of thousands of Bosnian Marks, in the southwestern village of Gabela.
Police seized about 240 kilogrammes of the drugs during a raid of the facilities he was using.
Prosecutors also asked for Milosevic’s pre-trial detention to be extended.
The indictment was sent to the state court for approval.
