On Wednesday, Croatia's health authorities reported 42 new cases of infection with the novel coronavirus in the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total number of cases to date to 1,950. The death toll remained at 48, unchanged from Tuesday.
Wednesday's figures show that this was the eighth day in a row with a cumulative case load daily increase of less than 3 percent.
Since the first confirmed case on 25 February, Croatia has tested 27,614 samples to date, including 1,340 over the last 24 hours. There are currently 314 hospitalised patients, including 19 on ventilators.
So far, 869 people have recovered from the disease, up by 68 from Tuesday. This total includes 457 who have been discharged from hospitals, and 412 who have not been hospitalised at all.
Health Minister Vili Beros said that a new hotspot of the infection was a nursing home in the northern town of Koprivnica, where 13 residents, two employees, and two contacts have tested positive for the novel virus in the last 24 hours.
