European Union’s (EU) ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, handed over on Sunday a 75,000 Euro worth aid in medical equipment for the Republika Srpska Public Health Institute, a healthcare authority in one of two Bosnia's semi-autonomous regions.
The medical equipment among other things contains 20,000 Covid-19 control tests.
“This is a very important help and the first batch of what we will get, which will include 38 ventilators, 11 x-ray machines and many other things that our healthcare system needs. This helps us to get better and more organised, and to show the solidarity which is now necessary,” said Milorad Dodik, Bosnia’s Serb Presidency member who was present at the handover in Banja Luka, Republika Srpska’s administrative centre.
He recalled that the European union already approved a set of financial assistance for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that Republika Srpska will get one part of that aid as one of two Bosnia’s semi-autonomous regions.
“That’s the assistance for the economy, whose recovery will be a lot more challenging than the work concerning the health sector,” said Dodik.
“I would like to thank for this and the aid we will get in the future. The EU did not forget Republika Srpska and that will strengthen our belief in the necessity of European integration and solidarity,” he added.
