The Prime Minister of Bosnia's Bosniak-Croat shared Federation entity (FBiH), Fadil Novalic, said that the data of the Tax Administration show a radical job loss in this entity.
“According to the March data of the FBiH Tax Administration, 8,663 people have lost their jobs and applied to the employment office. In the first week of April alone, as many as 11,754 people registered with the employment office. In the next three weeks of April, the FBiH lost 5,000 jobs per week, which was still a radical job loss trend. But following the adoption of the “Anti-Corona law,” that number dropped to 2,794, which is four times less than in the first week of April, and twice less than in the other weeks of April,” Novalic said.
According to him, this number shows that the Federation entity mitigated and slowed down the radical job loss trend.
“In the weeks ahead, we expect the weekly job loss to decrease even further, until the trend stops completely,” Novalic pointed out.
He added that even the most developed countries in the world are losing jobs, but that according to the Tax Administration's data, the FBiH still has over half a million employed.
According to the Tax Administration's data, the FBiH lost over 27,000 jobs as a result of the pandemic lock-down.
