Bosnia’s Journalist Association as well as prominent intellectuals, journalists and artists called upon the Canton Sarajevo Government to refrain from removing Duska Jurisic, the director of TV Sarajevo, from her position, arguing that it would represent a violation of the law and decrease the quality of the program.

“We call upon the Government and Assembly of Canton Sarajevo to return the issue of naming the management of TVSA back into the legal framework and international community institutions to stand on the side of legality,” the BH Journalists association said.

A group of journalists, film directors, photographers and intellectuals also sent a letter to Sarajevo Canton MPs as well as KS Prime Minister Mario Nenadic and Justice and Administration Minister, Mersa Kustura.

“Duska Jurisic is essentially a part of this city which she built her life and her career into and became one of the best journalists in our country and region,” the letter said. “She achieved European quality in journalism and became a veteran of journalism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

They added that Jurisic was a news presenter at Bosnia’s public broadcaster during the siege of Sarajevo.

“Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, journalism and television need Duska Jurisic. She represents the highest standard in journalism, her human integrity and patriotism are exemplary and a treasure in this society,” the group said.
