Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Prague, Martina Mlinarevic, has launched an initiative for decorating Dana Nemcova, one of the most prominent living Czech intellectual, with the medal of Bosnia and Herzegovina for her engagement in helping the Bosnians who had found shelter in her country during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

“A psychologist, dissident, democracy activist, one of the signatories of the 77 Charter, the person who had taken part in the greatest battle for the Czech freedom and was arrested on several occasions, one of the closest associates of late President Vaclav Havel,” the ambassador wrote in the initiative.

Nemcova's role in helping Bosnian refugees who fled the Bosnian war in the early 1990s to integrate and become part of the Czech society was immense, she stressed, adding that the Czech intellectual was solving almost “impossible” bureaucratic issues and was truly devoted to helping the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina during those years.

“Since Bosnian community in the Czech Republic is known as a rare one that doesn't divide into ethnic clubs or groups, all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina see Mrs Dana Nemcova with the same amount of respect. Bosnians and Herzegovinians in the Czech Republic call Mrs Dana their mother,” said Mlinarevic,
