According to a letter the President of the EBRD, Suma Chakrabarti, sent to the former Chairman of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, the 2019 annual EBRD meeting in Sarajevo was “one of the best” the international financial institution ever had in its history and has managed to promote Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire Western Balkans.
Chakrabarti thanked Denis Zvidic, who is now Deputy Speaker of Bosnia’s House of Representatives, for the excellent cooperation between Bosnia and the EBRD in the implementation of numerous infrastructural projects that are important for the country.
The top EBRD official expressed his belief that this conference has brought great benefits to the economy and people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“I would also like to thank you for your cooperation and leadership in organizing the EBRD Annual Meeting held in Sarajevo last year. The bank's staff, as well as our members, rated this meeting as one of the best in the history of the EBRD,” the letter said.
Chakrabarti argued that the meeting in Sarajevo has “set a high standard” for such meetings.
“My wife and I, and indeed many other participants, were touched by your incredible hospitality. Once again, thank you for that,” he wrote.
He also pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region are facing unique challenges due to the coronavirus pandemic and reassured that the EBRD is prepared to continue to provide full support regarding economic recovery.
The annual meeting of the EBRD was held in May last year at a time when Zvizdic was Chairman of the Council of Ministers and was an extremely important event for Bosnia. More than 3,000 participants, 70 delegations, EBRD Governors and business delegations and businessmen from more than 70 countries with which the EBRD has business contacts and in which it invests gathered in Bosnia’s capital for the meeting.
