The United States remains “a steadfast partner” in Bosnia and Herzegovina even during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ambassador Eric Nelson said Friday in a virtual address on the occasion of the US Independence Day.
“While there has been a great loss and uncertainty, we have seen this crisis bring neighbours and nations together, to focus on a threat that respects no borders and requires us to unite to protect lives and livelihoods,” said Nelson during a live celebration streamed on US Embassy's social network pages.
He stressed that the path to the future required constant work and that democracy is a process.
“We are seeing it now in the United States as people demonstrate to tell community leaders what changes they want to see. As we look in 2020 at our progress, writing historical wrongs and healing old wounds, it is so important that we also look towards the future,” he stressed, adding that Bosnia's brighter future is in the country's integration to the transatlantic community.
“It is often difficult but Bosnia and Herzegovina's citizens succeed at overcoming the difficulties. At every step on that path, the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina have the United States as a partner,” the ambassador said.
