Sarajevo Canton Government will support the second Bosnian Pride March set to take place in August this year and improve the standards concerning the human rights of all citizens, prime minister Mario Nenadic told activists organising the gathering.

Nenadic met the LGBTIQ community representatives on Tuesday alongside Interior Minister Ismir Jusko, chief of uniformed police sector Dzafer Hrvat and senior inspector Jasmin Sipovic.

Lejla Huremovic, an activist, informed the officials that the second Bosnian pride parade, officially Pride March, will take place on August 23 under the slogan ‘No life within four walls’. 

“We're aware that the march won't change the world and that there is a large part of the LGBTIQ population that won't be able to say who they are. But, we think it is about time to start breaking down the prejudices. We exist and we don't jeopardise anyone. We have the right to be fully equal citizens,” said Huremovic.

The activists stressed they were not fighting only for their own but for the rights of all those who are expelled from the community because of their identities.

The Government of Sarajevo Canton will support this gathering and act in line with the law and human right conventions, said PM Nenadic.

“We will try to improve the standards of human right protection for all citizens,” he said.

The organisers stressed the gathering will be held in accordance with the epidemiological situation and that all recommendations and measures at that moment will be obeyed.
