In the last 24 hours, 335 people have been tested for the novel coronavirus in Slovenia, of whom five turned out to be infected, the government said on Monday.

This is a drop in the number of new cases from the previous day when 549 tests detected 16 infections. Last week, the daily number of new infections was in double-digit territory, but the number of tests conducted at weekends is half the number of tests performed on workdays.

Since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak in Slovenia, 127,940 tests have been performed, confirming 2,087 infections, and currently there are 238 active cases. Twenty people infected with the virus are currently hospitalised, one fewer than on Sunday, and four of them are in intensive care. The death toll remains at 116.

Hrastnik municipality remains the biggest hotspot, with about a third of all active cases in the country. The virus has entered a nursing home there.
