The southern city of Trebinje will provide face masks for all primary school pupils in this local community, Mayor Mirko Curic confirmed on Friday.
Following a meeting with the school principals, Curic said the funds for this purpose would be secured in the city budget and the masks would be delivered by September 1, when the new school year starts.
According to the mayor, public transportation in this city will be adjusted to the school hours and schedule in all primary and secondary schools.
“We hope we won't experience any problems and that every student will be provided with timely transportation. We ask for understanding of both the students and their parents because we're all here to show full responsibility but also the patience,” he said.
The competent authorities in Bosnia's Republika Srpska region decided a week ago that the new school year will start on September 1 and the classes would be attended on-site. Maximum of 15 students will be allowed per classroom and classes will last 20-30 minutes.
Trebinje is the southernmost city in Republika Srpska, one of two Bosnia's semi-autonomous regions.
