Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti said on Wednesday that Israel recognized Kosovo less than half an hour after the White House Agreements were signed last week.
“Whoever thinks this agreement violates Kosovo’s sovereignty is wrong. I think the recognition that came from Israel 22 minutes after the agreement was signed at the White House strengthens Kosovo’s sovereignty,” Hoti said.
Hoti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic signed agreements to normalize economic relations between Serbia and Kosovo which included clauses on Serbia moving its embassy to Jerusalem and Israel recognizing Kosovo. Earlier on Wednesday, Vucic’s media advisor said that the decision to move Serbia’s embassy was not final while the Times of Israel quoted Serbian sources who said that Israel should not recognize Kosovo.
According to Hoti, the agreement will be implemented. “It was signed in the White House and I don’t think that any other office has greater credibility in securing the implementation of the agreement,” he said.
