Two Algerian nationals were arrested in Sarajevo on Friday on suspicion of killing an illegal migrant.
Police spokesman Mirza Hadziabdic confirmed the arrests. “Two Algerian nationals, who are also migrants, have been arrested. After processing, they will be handed over to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office,” he said.
The body of the murdered migrant, whose nationality was not immediately known, was found on Thursday with his hands tied at the back. It is believed that the perpetrators suffocated him.
The house where the body was found was occupied by a large number of illegal migrants. Migrants often break into abandoned buildings in search of shelter because two reception centres near Sarajevo are overcrowded.
Late last month, also in Sarajevo, a Moroccan migrant was killed in a fight by his compatriot, who has been arrested.
