Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, who decorated a convicted war criminal, should not be Croatian President Zoran Milanovic, or Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic's interlocutor because such visits do not solve anything, Jadranka Kosor, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia told N1 on Friday, regarding Dodik's recent visit to Zagreb.
“People, politicians who disrespect the decisions of international courts – by that I mean Dodik, are not the first with whom Croatian representatives had to talk. Dodik was invited as a member of Bosnia's Presidency. In that case, the unusual thing was done. Croatian President's interlocutors used to be all three members of Bosnia's Presidency, and Croatian prime Minister's interlocutors used to be the country's Council of Ministers (CoM) and the CoM Chairman,” Kosor said.
She added that it is not clear to her what could Milanovic and Plenkovic discuss with Dodik in particular, asking, what it is that they resolved together?
Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's Presidency, stayed in Zagreb earlier this week where he was welcomed with an official reception by the President and Prime Minister of Croatia. When other two Presidency members objected, the Croatian officials said they received him as a Serb leader, and Dodik himself said he did not go there to represent Bosnia, but Serb interests as he has more than enough capacity to represent Serbs and the Bosnian Serb entity called Republika Srpska (RS).
“I can't imagine the person responsible for Croats not returning to the RS becoming the protector of Croat rights. By this I mean Dodik. Croat equality in Bosnia can't be guaranteed by a person who decorated a convicted war criminal who shelled a Croatian city. I believe Croatia must stick to the Croatian Parliament's Declaration on the help of Bosnian Croats which stipulates that their protection is based on European values,” Kosor pointed out.
She concluded that all open issues should be resolved institutionally.
