Members of the Light Infantry Battalion Group (INF-L-BNG) of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina began a four-day exercise on Monday at the Manjača military range, in order to conduct a NATO assessment (NEL-1) according to The concept of operational capabilities (OCC E&F).
NATO evaluators will assess the exercise and evaluate the INF-L-BNG members in regard to interoperability, which includes assessing their training, organization, structure and equipment.
With the successful completion of Exercise NEL-1, this unit will complete the first level of a four-year assessment under the NATO Operational Capabilities Concept and become fully interoperable according to NATO standards.
This is followed by another two-year combat readiness assessment, after which the unit is certified to participate in NATO-led multinational operations, European Union and United Nations operations.
