Foreigners' affairs inspectors carried out an operation in cooperation with police officers towards establishing control over the movement of foreigners in Bosnia's major cities and towns, the Foreigners' Affairs Service said on Friday.

According to the statement, the activities resulted in the discovery of foreigners who illegally entered and stayed on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The activities took place in Sarajevo, Bihac, Velika Kladusa, Tuzla, Kalesija, Donji Vakuf and Travnik.

The agency issued the expulsion measures for 27 foreigners including the nationals Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Morocco and Algeria, forbidding the further stay or new entry to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Foreigners’ Affairs Service also organised a voluntary return for 22 nationals of Turkey, while seven foreigners including the nationals of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and Serbia were returned to the Republic of Serbia, in line with the readmission agreement.

Temporary shelters across Bosnia currently host 6,102 migrants. Of 12,991 migrants who were registered by the Foreigners’ Affairs Service since the beginning of 2020, 12,286 expressed interest in seeking the asylum. Only in the past seven days 434 of 470 registered migrants expressed interest in the asylum.
