The announced large EU investment package for the Western Balkans is good news for Bosnia and Herzegovina and should result in several important projects being realised in the country’s semi-autonomous Republika Srpska (RS) entity, leader of the ruling party in the RS and Bosnian Presidency member, Milorad Dodik, said on Sunday.
One of those projects is the construction of part of the 5C corridor – a European route that connects Budapest with the Adriatic Sea – between the towns of Doboj and Vukosavlje, he said.
“Another one is the railway from Doboj through Tuzla to Zvornik. It is very important that funds have finally been set aside for the completion of the road that should connect Scepan Polje and Foca, and I think that will also be included in the package,” Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka.
He announced that the realisation of several projects in terms of digitalisation, renovation of education institutions and innovation in education will be considered in the coming period.
“We will have to apply and lobby for those projects to be supported,” he said.
Dodik pointed out that the investments consist of nine billion Euros for the Western Balkans for projects in infrastructure, highways and roads, railways, digitalisation and green energy.
