Bosnia’s Islamic Community urges believers to pray at home

Due to the growing number of coronavirus infections, the Islamic Community (IC) in Bosnia appealed to believers older than 60 to refrain from visiting mosques and rather pray at home.

If they still wish to attend the Friday Jumah, they should walk to the mosque, and not take public transportation, it said.

The IC also asked believers to respect the prescribed pandemic protection measures in general and this way to “prevent the enormous spreading of the virus and preserve people’s lives, particularly the lives of seniors.”

It also appealed to younger people to contribute to the fight against the virus by avoiding gatherings in bars and similar objects.

“The virus jeopardizes all of us and each one of us must confront it individually,” the Islamic Community said in a press release.
