US-Europe Alliance Co-Chair: Bosnians could have huge impact on US election

Joe Biden is a great friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Co-Chairman at US-Europe Alliance, Reuf Bajrovic, told N1 on Monday, arguing that it is important that he wins the upcoming US presidential election and that Bosnians living in the country will likely help him do that.

“Younger people are just now discovering what he said about Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, how much he risked his career. His key associates are Bosnia's best friends. Biden personally removed the 1994/1995 article on the application of the arms embargo on Bosnia, not to mention everything else he did,” Bajrovic said.

“Biden is interested in Bosnia and Herzegovina for personal reasons because his legacy will be looked at – what he did in the Balkans in the 1990s and what he does now when he wins,” he argued.

Bajrovic also stressed that Russia’s interest is for Biden to lose. Russia wants to “create problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina so it doesn’t enter NATO and remains an unstable region such as Crimea, Moldova and countries around Russia,” he said.

Bosnians could have a great impact on the outcome of the election, he said.

“Biden is the favourite in the key state electoral units and I believe that the results in the state of Pennsylvania will decide the outcome. Biden currently leads by eight percent there, but that doesn’t mean he will win,” Bajrovic said.

He said that the Bosnian community has already played an important role when it “prevented (Bernie) Sanders from winning based on the number of votes and delegates” by voting for Biden in the primaries.

“I met wonderful people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iowa who will have a huge impact because Iowa is now tied by a few thousand votes,” he said, arguing that Bosnias could bring Biden victory there.

Georgia, another state where a lot of Bosnians live, is also tied, he added.
