Bosnia’s Foreign Affairs Minister and Deputy Council of Ministers Chair, Bisera Turkovic, laid down flowers at the site of the Monday terrorist attack in Vienna, Austria, and paid her respects to all the victims.
On Monday, an armed attacker opened fire in the city centre, killing four people and injuring at least 20.
Austrian authorities said that the attacker, who was killed in the shootout with law enforcement, was a supporter of the Islamic State (ISIS).
Bosnian citizens sympathise with the citizens of Austria, the victims and their families, Turkovic said as she paid her respects alongside Bosnia’s Ambassador in the country, Kemal Kozaric, and Honorary Consul, Davul Ljuhar.
“Today, here in Vienna, I want to say that this cowardly act we witnessed in the heart of our friendly country does not belong to the civilized world and we strongly condemn it. It is important to distance ourselves strongly from such phenomena, which is aimed at instilling fear and mistrust among people, but also stains the fundamental values that we follow and adhere to,” Turkovic said.
“With deep gratitude to Austria for everything it has done and is doing today for our homeland, I want to say that we will always be together in the fight against all evil and in preserving peace,” she said, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
