President Zoran Milanovic said on Wednesday that some media in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in reporting on Croatian police treatment of migrants at the border, suggested that Croatia is an enemy of Muslims, so he called on BiH authorities to pay attention to those articles as they could be potentially dangerous.

“I don't like the way some media in Bosnia and Herzegovina describe Croatia and its treatment of illegal migrants attempting to cross the Croatian border,” said Milanovic and warned that these articles incorrectly suggest that Croatia is an enemy to Muslims.

“Those articles on some portals hint that Croatia is an enemy to Muslims. That is very ugly and potentially dangerous. Hence, I call on them to come to their senses, and on those who have influence on them and on the Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities to pay attention to that because that results in things such as those I discussed with Van der Bellen today,” Milanovic said referring to his talk earlier with Austria's president in the wake of a terrorist attack in Vienna committed by a young sympathiser of Islamic State.

Milanovic added that Croatia's police have the duty to protect the border and prevent illegal migrants from entering.

Migrants “camp in Bosnia and Herzegovina for weeks and using the method of trial and error, they either make it or they don't, and Croatia's police send them back, which is something they must do, I hope in as peaceful a way as possible, but they have to do that,” said Milanovic.

Earlier today he extended his condolences to his Austrian counterpart Alexander Van der Bellen and condemned the terrorist attack in Vienna in which four people were killed.
