The President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, presented the Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and its Bosniak member, Sefik Dzaferovic, with the highest civil award of his country, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, when the two met in Islamabad to discuss ways to improve the economic relations between their countries on Thursday.
The two concluded that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are friendly and Dzaferovic thanked Alvi for all of Pakistan's support for Bosnia so far and invited him for a visit.
Nishan-e-Pakistan is the highest and most prestigious civilian decoration for foreign officials who have contributed by serving their country, as well as for contributing to international relations and cooperation.
Some other past recipients of the award are Queen Elisabeth II, Nelson Mandela, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, a member of the Qatari royal family, former Saud King Abdullah, former Emperor of Japan Akihito, Turkish Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Abdullah Gul, China’s President Xi Jinping and former US President Richard Nixon.
