Once Bosnia’s Presidency members start behaving like Joe Biden, who said that if he becomes the new president, he will represent all Americans, including those who did not vote for him, Bosnia will be able to move forward, the Deputy Speaker of the country’s House of Representatives, Denis Zvizdic, told N1 on Thursday.
“The U.S. election is extremely important for Bosnia and Herzegovina because we are talking about one of Bosnia’s closest and most consistent friends,” Zvizdic told N1 on Thursday, adding that Bosnia is “one of the biggest success stories of the U.S.”
“When Bosnia and Herzegovina experiences the members of its Presidency saying, as Biden did last night, that he is the Democratic candidate, but that he will be the president of all Americans – then we can talk about the new era in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Zvizdic said.
“I think we will see that happen,” he predicted. “New generations who want to live together with friends from other nationalities are coming, even though there is a cloud of nationalism above the Balkan countries.”
Zvizdic also commented on a recent statement by the Croat National Assembly (HNS), an organisation made up of Bosnian Croat parties, which expressed support for French President Emmanuel Macron in his battle against “Islamic terrorism.”
In the statement, the HNS said that Bosnian Croats have also experienced the consequences of “Islamic terrorism” in Bosnia.
“To accuse Bosniaks, who were the victims of genocide and who were the biggest victims of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is the moral bottom – as if someone would accuse Jews of terrorism 25 years after World War II and said that the Wehrmacht units had to treat them that way,” he said.
Zvizdic called the HNS statement “scandalous” and argued that it represents a “civilizational and moral decline.”
