Bosnian film and theatre actor Dragan Jovicic (66) has died Thursday evening in Sarajevo as a result of Covid-19 infection.
Apart from theatrical performances, this great actor will be remembered for his numerous roles in domestic series and films. The roles from the beginning of his career are said to have, in a way, marked his acting opus such as the role in “Kože”, one of the projects from the early ‘80s that left an exceptional mark in TV production, in which Jovicic played with Rejhan Demirdzic as Adem.
The audience will also remember him for the role of Stojan in “Porobdzije”.
He began his permanent return to the theater at the National Theater of the Bosnian Krajina in Banja Luka, and from that period his incredible creation of the character of Volodja in the Great Brilliant Waltz by the Slovenian writer Drago Jancar, directed by Jovica Pavic, remained memorable.
Jovicic returned to the Sarajevo “Kamerni Teatar 55” in 1987 where he had some remarkable roles. He played many plays on that stage, however, his successful realization of the title character in Hussein-Captain Gradascevic, Ahmed Muratbegovic, directed by Gradimir Gojer, stands out. He won numerous acting awards and prizes, including the “Sixth of April Award” of the city of Sarajevo for his contribution to the art of theater. He was the General Manager of the theatre from 2011 to 2015.
