Bosnia's Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic was the first senior official in the country to congratulate US President-elect Joe Biden on the election victory.

“Dear Joe, we kept the faith, now the new dawn is upon us,” Turkovic tweeted.

Zeljko Komsic, the Croat member of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency, also joined and extended “sincere congratulations” on Biden’s victory, stressing that he was “an honest and proven friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

“We are convinced that you will respond to enormous challenges lying ahead of American people and the world in the best possible way, we are happy because we are sure you will enhance Trans-Atlantic alliances and cooperation. At the same time, we assure you we will do everything in our power to have Bosnia and Herzegovina become a part of the NATO, we believe, with your support,” stressed Komsic.

Bosniak and Croat leaders, Bakir Izetbegovic and Dragan Covic, expressed hope the US President-elect would help Bosnia on its Euro-Atlantic path.

“May God bless America and your leadership,” Izetbegovic said.

Biden reached the victory after winning in the state where he was born, which put him over the 270 electoral votes needed to win.

With Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes, Biden now has a total of 273 electoral votes.
