With the election of Joe Biden for president, Bosnia can expect support from the United States, Global Security, International Relations and Diplomacy Advisor at the Washington-based Institute for Development Impact, Adnan Hadrovic, told N1 on Tuesday.
“I expect high-level visits from Bosnia to Washington and the maintenance of those links with the Administration on the top level. My message is that Bosnia should approach Washington and not wait for Washington to make the first move,” he said.
As a citizen of the U.S., Hadrovic sees Biden’s victory as a path toward a normalization of relations within a deeply divided society.
“Right now it may not look that way while President Trump is not ready to accept the election results. That significantly upsets the American society,” he said.
Hadrovic commented on the celebration of Biden’s victory on the streets of Sarajevo, saying that he would interpret this as “an outburst of positive emotions toward the new president, having in mind his deep connection with Bosnia.”
“He knows the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has repeatedly visited the country during bad times,” Hadrovic said, adding that Biden’s position toward the aggression against Bosnia, the Srebrenica Genocide and the post-conflict development is well known.
