A total of 72 people have passed away due to COVID-19 and more than 1,440 tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Bosnia and Herzegovina, healthcare authorities reported on Wednesday.
In Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, 443 of the 1,158 samples tested since Tuesday were positive and 37 people passed away due to COVID-19.
The Public Health Institute in the other semi-autonomous region, the Federation (FBiH), said that it tested 4,312 people and that there were 1,004 new coronavirus cases among them. The Institute also reported 32 new deaths caused by the disease.
Another 93 coronavirus cases and three COVID-19 deaths were also reported in Bosnia's Brcko District.
A total of 66,565 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Bosnia since the beginning of the epidemic and 32,769 have recovered so far.
The COVID-19 death toll is now 1,701 and there are currently more than 32,095 active coronavirus cases in the country.
