Two days after the local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, political parties' advertisements on billboards in numerous cities and towns were replaced by – art.

Photos by artist Jelena Medic can be seen as of Tuesday on the billboards in 18 Bosnian cities and towns, showing the faces of ordinary people instead of politicians and election candidates.

“A year ago, the artist decided to unconditionally follow her intuition and stop accepting commercial jobs, and to invest everything she earned into herself and her own project. She started writing an autobiography, which required diving deep into herself and facing the truth about herself and others, which is often not so easy to accept. She resumed the same method in a photo studio with 25 intuitive individuals, who have passed or are in the middle of the awakening process,” said a statement promoting the exhibition simultaneously taking across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The exhibition called ‘Awake’ will be installed at a total of 116 locations and these are the roadside signs “for those willing to read them.”

Because it is about time to wake up, said the promotion letter.
