A joint military exercise between the U.S. and Bosnian armed forces, aimed at boosting cooperation and developing interoperability, started on Wednesday at two locations in the country.
The exercise is supported by two F-16 fighter jets from Aviano, Italy, which use laser beams instead of live ammunition to lock onto targets. A UH-1H military helicopter has been deployed for medical evacuation.
The exercise, which 280 Bosnian forces are taking part in together with members of the US Army, “contributes to greater security and stability in the Balkans,” the Ministry said, adding that a lower number of Bosnian Army members participate in it than planned due to the coronavirus pandemic.
