The Moroccan migrant arrested on Thursday in Sarajevo within an investigation into a murder of a Bosnian national cannot be linked to the case, Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The arrested migrant, identified as 34-year old Hicham Aglaras, the national of Morocco, already has a criminal record in Bosnia. He was convicted last year for possession of illicit drugs and received a suspended four-month prison sentence.
Now, he will be sent to the Foreigners’ Affairs Service for further procedures.
“Sarajevo Canton Police is working intensively under the guidance of competent Prosecutor to clarify and document committed crimes,” said the ministry.
The murder of Jasmin Berovic, Bosnian national, took place Tuesday evening in a brawl that, according to the police report, left one dead and two severely injured. Three migrants were among the main suspects.
A day later, the police released a photo of a migrant they believe was involved in the murder.
The incident sparked the reaction of the locals, who gathered in a protest and asked the authorities to act urgently.
