The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) asked Bosnia to express its needs regarding the number of vaccines against COVID-19, the Civil Affairs Ministry said on Wednesday.

“Following ongoing inquiries from the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs on the possibility of Bosnia and Herzegovina joining the EU procurement mechanism, the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission (DG NEAR), through the EU Delegation to BiH, called on Bosnia and Herzegovina to express its needs regarding the quantity of the vaccine,” the Ministry said.

“This call, in addition to the COVAX mechanism, opens the possibility for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be part of the EU procurement mechanism, which is the main and only prerequisite for maximum security in the vaccine procurement process,” it said.
