Sanela Gorusanovic-Butigan was elected Wednesday as head of Bosnia's top judicial institution – the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) which appoints and sanctions judges in the country.
She was born in Sarajevo in 1974 where she graduated Law at Sarajevo University in 1998.
Gorusanovic-Butigan was appointed a judge of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo in March 2007, where she continues to work in the litigation department. At the same time, she performs the duty of a land registry judge in the Land Registry Office of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo.
She is also a lecturer and participant in a number of seminars, conferences in the field of application of the Law on Protection against Defamation and Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, and international projects under the auspices of the HJPC BiH.
Judge Gorusanovic-Butigan was elected HJPC member in June 2020.
