Centres for Civic Initiatives (CCI) NGO and Zenica Cantonal Hospital presented an innovative informative system for transparent waiting lists for patients, on Tuesday.
The electronic system was created and implemented at the Zenica Cantonal Hospital under the Prevention and Anti-Corruption Project in Healthcare implemented by Transparency International BiH and Centres for Civic Initiatives (CCI) with the financial support from the EU.
Patients, users of public health services, usually do not understand the internal procedures of health institutions for creating waiting lists, as well as the capacities and priorities of institutions. Insufficient information about the way the lists are formed and without insight into the waiting lists themselves can lead to patients’ distrust of the public health care system and dissatisfaction with health services.
“It is with this example of cooperation with the Zenica Cantonal Hospital and through the introduction of innovative software for waiting lists, that we want to show the good practices – when citizens have full insight into scheduled examinations and operations, as well as the process of creating waiting lists, and decrease instances of corruption, strengthening the trust of citizens in the institution,” said Asmir Cilimkovic, CCI project manager.
Assistant Director for medical affairs, Kasim Spahic noted the advantages of the new software:
“The organized waiting list system is made electronically, it is simple and makes it easier for medical workers to schedule patients. The patient immediately receives information about the term of service and is actively informed in the event of a change of term.
The software will be presented in other health institutions across BiH.
