Serbia sent a team of doctors to the BiH city of Banja Luka, where the Chairman of Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency and its Serb member, Milorad Dodik, is being treated after he tested positive for coronavirus, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday, adding that Dodik’s health condition is “not ideal” but also “not terrible.”
Dodik was admitted to the UKC RS on Sunday evening due to nausea and stomach pain. His office said on Saturday that he went into home isolation after he had contact with a person who had tested positive for the virus.
The Bosnian Serb top official was tested for the coronavirus several times, and the third test, conducted on Tuesday, was positive.
“Bilateral pneumonia was diagnosed, and the third test for the novel coronavirus was positive,” the latest statement by the UKC RS said.
Vucic said that his government immediately sent a team of doctors to Banja Luka.
“They spoke to President Dodik and we are following the situation at all times,” Vucic said, adding that he also spoke to Dodik three times on Tuesday and will do so again on Wednesday.
“We wish him good health, but I’m no doctor and I can’t give expert assessments. He’s holding up well, but his condition is not ideal, if I may put it this way – it’s not the way we would like it to be but it’s not terrible,” Vucic said.
“He will get the best care and everything that we in Belgrade and Banja Luka can do,” the Serbian President said, adding that Belgrade is ready to receive and treat Dodik at any point if the need arises.
