Bosnia' Archbishop Tomo Vuksic met with representatives of four Sarajevo's soup kitchens on Monday and presented them with a donation for a total of two thousands meals. As of this year, the head of the Catholic Church has announced, the funds intended for the Christmas and Easter receptions will be donated to one soup kitchen every year.
Vuksic first met the head of the Muslim Charity Association ‘Merhamet’ Kenan Vrbanjac and his associates, explaining that the pandemic has interrupted the tradition of the Christmas reception so he found it more appropriate to donate the funds intended for that purpose to four Sarajevo's soup kitchens, the ones of the Merhamet, Caritas, Dobrotvor and the St Anthony's Bread charity associations.
Bosnia's Catholic Church leader also met with the chief of the Critas Mirko Simic and the St Anthony's Bread associations, Mirko Simic and Pero Karaica, as well as the chairman of the Dobrotvor charity association Aleksa Cabic, informing them about the same intention.
According to the archbishop, instead of organising traditional receptions, on Christmas and Easter each year in the future, he will instead donate one soup kitchen every year.
