Armin Berberovic was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, on Monday. On May 26, 2023, he killed doctor Azra Spahic with his vehicle in the Sarajevo Marindvor neighbourhood, while her friend, also a young doctor Alma Suljic, later died of her injuries.

Berberovic received the maximum prison sentence for this crime.

Berberovic was accused of endangering public traffic, endangering people's lives as a traffic participant, and not complying with regulations, as a result of which the death of two people occurred, while one person suffered minor injuries.

On May 26, 2023, at 11:30 pm, Berberovic killed doctor Azra Spahic with his car in Marindvor and injured two girls, of whom doctor Alma Suljic later succumbed to her injuries.

After the traffic accident, it was determined that he had 0.41 per million of alcohol in his blood. It was also stated that he had the drug amphetamine in his blood.

The Court found that he was driving under a ban, meaning that his driver's license was taken away because he had committed violations. He drove 76 km/h on a section with a 50 km/h limit.
