Despite wanting to be a conductor all her life, Azra Bulatovic fulfilled her dream only a year and a half ago by getting a job at the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) company. She most often works on the Sarajevo-Capljina route, which was included among the most beautiful routes in the world. She told N1 she would not like to do any other job.

Judging by the number of passengers, she said, it is clear how pleasant it is to travel with this means of transport.

“It's very comfortable, we also have a bar, and all the cars have toilets. Absolutely objectively speaking, this is the best means of transport. If there is a stoppage due to bad weather, we are all connected and always provide transportation or an alternative. I don't have anything against it, but if the bus gets stuck, they have no alternative,” she said.

Passengers are delighted with Azra's work. Many were annoyed by the crowds at the ticket counters, but its accessibility calmed even those who complained earlier. Bulatovic told N1 that even though the trains are full every day, she and her colleagues make an effort to help every passenger, paying special attention to the oldest passengers.

N1 also asked the Railway employee about the stoppages she mentioned and the derailments that have happened recently and they said this happened mostly to freight trains, however larger investments are necessary.

“We are working on it, but the Government must also help as well. As a company, we cannot do anything on our own. derailments happen, but a way is always found for the passengers to reach point B in time,” said Bulatovic.

In most cases, the buses are already waiting for the passengers. Azra delights passengers, and she herself is satisfied with her job. She got her wish at a very young age.

“Since my father was engaged in a similar business, I went with him very often. Back then, there were business trains – Bosnaexpress, and he was the train captain. I got the desire at a very young age and so I ended up going to that school. However, I have only recently been involved in this type of business, but better late than never. It made my dream come true”, Bulatovic stated.

With her story, Azra encourages other women who want to do this type of work, because she proved to herself that as a woman she can do anything.
