Civil protection administrations from Bosnia and Herzegovina said they were ready to send aid to the Republic of Slovenia to help the country cope with the damage caused by the catastrophic floods that hit this country over the past days. Slovenia submitted a request for international assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, after a large storm and heavy rainfall hit the country, flooding the buildings and roads.

At the initiative of Bosnia's Security Minister Nenad Nesic, representatives of the Civil Protection Administrations in both Bosnia's entities – the Federation (FBiH) and Republika Srpska (RS) met on Monday at the premises of the Security Ministry, to discuss the scope of the assistance and available options.

They all expressed the readiness to send available machinery with crews to clear the terrain, and Minister Nesic will send a proposal to the Council of Ministers for making a decision on sending international aid.

In its request, Slovenia asked for help with the heavy mechanisation which is necessary to clear the terrain in flooded areas.

Slovenia also requested pontoon bridges which the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have at disposal, so Minister Nesic forwarded a request to the Ministry of Defense as well.
