Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez, sets off Monday for an official visit to the United States, where he will attend high-level meetings with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group, alongside crucial defence discussions with senior US officials.

In his role as Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Governor to the IMF, Helez will take part in the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group in Washington, where delegations from across the globe will debate international development, global economic trends, and financial markets.

Ahead of the meetings, Helez is scheduled to meet on Tuesday with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ambassador to the US, Sven Alkalaj, to discuss various aspects of the strategic partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

Alongside economic discussions, Minister Helez will also lead Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces delegation in bilateral consultations with US defence officials. A series of high-level meetings will focus on strengthening military cooperation between the two nations.

The Bosnian delegation will also visit the Maryland National Guard, which has worked closely with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Armed Forces for over 15 years to enhance their capabilities and NATO interoperability.

According to the official itinerary, Minister Helez will hold talks at the Pentagon with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence David Baker and Leigh Ann Killian, Director of the Office for Southern and Central Europe at the US Department of Defence, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Defence confirmed.
