BiH Presidency member Zeljko Komsic, Federation (FBiH) entity Prime minister Nermin Niksic and BiH Ambassador to UN welcomed the adoption of the UN Resolution on Srebrenica genocide, by saying it is an important step for Bosnia and the truth about the genocide of 1995.

Komsic said the adoption of the Resolution has put an end to a decades-long process, “which began with the indictment of genocide, continued with the pronouncement of final verdicts before international courts, and finally ended today, with the adoption of the Resolution in the United Nations. With this, after the legal consensus at the world level that was expressed through the judgments of the Court established by the United Nations, a political consensus was also reached on the issue of genocide that was committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Srebrenica. The opinion of those who are outside the reached legal and political consensus is not relevant at all,” he stated.

The head of the BiH Mission to the United Nations, Zlatko Lagumdzija, wrote on X:

“By the decision of the UN General Assembly, every subsequent July 11 is the International Day of Remembrance and Commemoration of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide! The decision was made with a “basketball” score of 84 to 19. There were 68 “players” left in the “audience”! I thank everyone who was with us over the past year” Lagumdzija wrote on his X profile.

Nermin Niksic, the FBiH Prime Minister thanked everyone who supported the Resolution.

“It was necessary to adopt this Resolution because of those who persistently deny this fact. Thank you to all member states of the United Nations who recognized the importance of the Resolution and voted for its adoption. Genocide was committed in Srebrenica, which was determined by the final verdict of the International Court of Justice in The Hague. No one can dispute that legal fact, no matter how hard some individuals tried to reduce genocide to a “terrible crime”. A terrible crime is a tragedy that happened a few days ago in Tuzla, in Gradacac recently or last year in Belgrade, but in Srebrenica it was genocide,” he wrote.
