Bosnian Armed Forces helicopters have been deployed since morning to extinguish wildfires in the Garacki Podovi area near Bugojno. The region is a known minefield, necessitating extreme caution from the 2nd Helicopter Squadron of the Air Force and Air Defense Brigade. Utilizing a fire-fighting bucket, they are combating multiple fires threatening the Crkvine archaeological site and local property.

Defense Minister Zukan Helez is overseeing the fire-fighting operations on the ground, providing support to the Armed Forces. He has witnessed the efficiency of the helicopters in controlling the fires, highlighting their crucial role in protecting endangered areas, including the valuable archaeological site. His presence has been a morale booster for all involved, underscoring the Ministry of Defense's commitment to combating the fires.

“The fire threatens the archaeological site. I urge local communities affected by fires to request helicopter assistance from the Armed Forces. Our helicopters are ready and will be deployed upon receiving approval from the Presidency,” said Minister Helez.
