Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community (IC) in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein Kavazovic sent a message to Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora on the occasion of the upcoming Eid al-Adha.

You can read his message in full:

“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,

brothers and sisters, today is the 9th day of the month of Zul Hijjat – the Day of Arafat, the fundamental rule of Hajj.

According to our traditional sources, it is the best day of the year. Traditions tell us that on that day the Almighty Allah forgives the greatest number of people and frees them from hellfire.

Tomorrow is Eid, brothers and sisters, the day of sacrifice, when we offer our sacrifice, share the sacrificial meat with relatives, neighbours and friends, and spread joy. Let's spend it with a happy face and an open heart, with those we love, and visit the sick, poor and lonely, and make them happy with something beautiful and dear to them. May the joy of Eid be embraced by everyone.

With prayer, we also remember the brothers and sisters in Gaza, who suffer great injustice and pain and face unimaginable suffering.

Let's preserve the dignity and sanctity of Eid, and let's not do anything that could spoil its splendour.

I congratulate all Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the coming days of Eid al-Adha. I send special congratulations to my brothers and sisters in our Sandzak, Serbia and Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and the Bosniak diaspora, and all Muslims in the world.

Bajram sherif mubarek olsun,” Reis Kavazovic said.
