Bosnia’s best cyclist Lejla Njemcevic achieved a historic feat by winning the World Series in marathon disciplines, which consists of four World Cup races, writing her name in the history of world cycling.
Njemcevic raised the overall winner's trophy after winning fourth place in the last race in Snowshoe, United States, which was enough to win the World Series with a massive advantage of 280 points ahead of the runner-up.
The Bosnian cyclist won the first race of the World Cup in Czechia, followed by two-second places in the races in Italy and France.
Njemcevic’s name will be engraved in one of the trophies along with all the names of the overall winners of the World Cup in their respective disciplines. The trophy, which will be kept in a sports museum in Scotland.
The same trophy will be used in the following seasons for the overall winner of the World Cup but the names of the first World Cup winners will remain forever.
