The Government of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) adopted the Information on the Draft Law on Communications in the part regarding the introduction of a single European emergency number "112". The Government said it supports the introduction of the European number for emergencies "112" with "respect for the constitutional and legal competencies of the RS".
“The RS Government agrees with the Draft Law on Communications in the part referring to the introduction of the single European emergency number ‘112’,” the entity government said.
The RS Transport and Communications Ministry is tasked with submitting an opinion to the BiH Communications and Transport Ministry on the Draft Law in the part regarding the introduction of the single European emergency number “112”.
All RS institutions that “will participate in any way in the process of introducing the single European number for emergencies ‘112’ from technical, organizational and every other aspect, are obliged to ensure the protection of the interests and competencies of the RS, after the adoption of this Law”.
In cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration and International Cooperation, the RS Transport and Communications Ministry will inform the deputies in the BiH Parliament and the ministers in the BiH government from the RS about this conclusion.
As stated in the Information, the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport took into account the comments that were submitted as agreed at the RS level, in this Draft Law. The Draft creates a legal prerequisite for the introduction of the single European emergency number “112” in the RS and BiH while respecting the constitutional and legal competencies regarding the work of emergency services, the information added.
