Bosnian Archbishop, Cardinal Vinko Puljic served a holy mass and sermon at the Sarajevo Sacred Heart Cathedral on the occasion of Christmas, during which he emphasised that this is the most joyful holiday of all for the Catholics.

“New times have come. A human is no longer important, it is technology, media, politics and government that matter. What matters is to spend and enjoy, but today we celebrate the fact that God loves humans.

He called the current situation “strange”, because of “the rattling of weapons and the spread of hatred,” stressing the importance of “experiencing the dignity, which does not depend on the state or great powers but is given by God.”

“In this atmosphere, it means a lot to us to experience our God. I want Christmas to encourage us not to be overwhelmed. People can do as they want, but they will not go as long as they want, because God always has the last say,” the cardinal said.

He told the faithful that they cannot celebrate Christmas if they carry resentment and hatred in their hearts, because there is no place for God there.

After the sermon, the faithful said the prayers and which was followed by the Eucharistic service.

The mass was held in accordance with the epidemiological measures taken against coronavirus infection, in presence of a small number of attendees.
