William J. Burns, director of the CIA, arrived in Sarajevo on Tuesday, where he had meetings with colleagues from the intelligence community, members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the country’s Foreign Minister.
A US Government official confirmed for N1 that they discussed issues of common interest, including the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH.
They also discussed the worrisome secessionist rhetoric and actions of the President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, Milorad Dodik, and the RS Government, a US Government official told N1.
This is not Burns’ first visit to Bosnia.
The CIA director is well familiarised with the situation in BiH. As US Deputy Secretary of State, he visited the country in 2012 and spoke with members of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic, Zeljko Komsic and Nebojs Radmanovic, as well as with the Council of Ministers Chair and the Foreign Minister.
