Bosniak and Serb ministers in the Council of Ministers voted in favour of the item allocating funds for the October general elections, but in the end, it was not adopted because all the Croat ministers were against listing it on the Tuesday session agenda, since the BiH Finance Minister explained that such a decision was against the law.
“The General Secretariat will report as soon as possible on the further course and necessary steps, in accordance with the provisions of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of Ministers,” THE Council of Ministers told N1.
The Democratic Action Party (SDA), Democratic Front (DF) and Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) were in favour of the decision, while the ministers from the Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) were against it. The Deputy Chairman and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Vjekoslav Bevanda, also spoke about this.
“The law stipulates that the Council of Ministers can make a decision in the case of temporary financing, but not from these proposed sources, ie accumulated revenues. The opinion of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH states everything precisely as it is, but it is obvious that the law and legal action were not a priority when proposing such a decision,” Bevanda pointed out.
He noted that he did not want to enter into public controversy, nor did he want to go below the level of inappropriate regarding the function he holds, or his personal convictions, but he became the object of persecution.
The Minister of Finance concluded that in spite of everything, he will do his job in accordance with the Constitution and regulations that define it in the belief that this is the only way of acting in BiH,” the ministry said in a statement.
