The Bosnian-Herzegovinian candidate for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) is Danis Tanovic's film "My Late Summer".

The Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the certified professional organization for Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized the selection. The committee, consisting of director Nermin Hamzagic, casting director and production coordinator Narcisa Cvitanovic, producer Amira Kudumovic, screenwriter Melina Alagic, and set designer Emina Kujundzic, voted to decide on the Bosnian-Herzegovinian candidate.

“My Late Summer” is a comedic drama about a young woman who arrives on a remote island to resolve a family inheritance issue. In the whirlwind of newly arisen emotions, through a series of unforeseen situations, Maja will finally confront questions from her past. The search for the inheritance becomes a quest for her own identity and forgiveness.

The film features performances by Anja Matkovic, Uliks Fehmiu, Goran Navojec, Mario Knezovic, Marija Skaricic, Mirela Brekalo, Snjezana Sinovcic, Luka Juricic, Boris Ler, Ivana Roscic, Jadranka Matkovic, and others.

For 23 years, the Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been submitting films to the American Academy in the category of Best International Feature Film. Based on the nomination by the Association, Danis Tanović's film “No Man's Land” won the Oscar® for Best Foreign Language Film in 2002, and the Bosnian-Herzegovinian candidate for 2020, Jasmila Žbanić's film “Quo Vadis, Aida?”, was nominated for this prestigious award.

The Oscar is awarded by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and is one of the most significant awards in the world of cinema, while the ceremony itself is one of the most-watched television programs during the year in the USA and worldwide.

Danis Tanovic's film “My Late Summer” is now showing in cinemas across Bosnia and Herzegovina and, starting today, also in Croatia.
