Vojin Mijatovic, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Federal Minister of Development, Entrepreneurship, and Crafts (SDP), has announced that he will not be a candidate in this year's local elections in BiH.
“CIK BiH has published the preliminary lists for the local elections in BiH. This time, after three election cycles, I will not be a candidate. It's time for a short break, to give new people a chance,” Mijatovic stated.
He added that despite not being a candidate, he will fully support the SDP BiH Banja Luka organization during the campaign.
“They have a significant task of returning to the city council after more than 20 years. Unfortunately, it is already evident that the campaign will be colored by nationalist tones from all sides, while local community issues will be in the background,” he added.
He emphasized the importance of these elections, even if it may not seem apparent.
“After these elections, there will be a significant shake-up in many parties. The political scene in BiH will see serious changes after October. I wish all candidates in all parties good luck in the elections, and may the citizens choose their representatives,” Mijatovic concluded.
The local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be held on October 6, 2024. Voters will elect municipal mayors and city mayors in various cities, as well as municipal and city councils.
