Milorad Dodik, the President of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity, said commenting on US Ambassador Michael Murphy's interview to N1 that the American diplomat “abused the agrément that he received with consent of Republika Srpska” and assessed that his behaviour, rhetoric and statements are everything but a diplomatic behaviour. Dodik said that Murphy “narrowed the US to a political party in BiH and dealt a serious blow to the reputation of the country, which used to be careful about its diplomatic representatives.

“The vocabulary of Michael Murphy is not only non-diplomatic, it is a street vocabulary, for the needs of Sarajevo street, which he wants to please in a way where he says something to Dodik,” the entity president told Srna news agency.

He also said that “if BiH was anything like a state, it would expel Murphy several months ago.”

“Now we are only left to put up with frequent frustrating outbursts of a person, who appeared by mistake at a wrong place,” Dodik added.

The RS President noted that neither the Constitution of BiH nor the status of RS or the finance affairs of that entity are the ambassador's job.

“It is not his job to lie about alleged ban on gathering in Republika Srpska or seizing the freedom of press. Murphy's job is to represent his country in BiH, but seems like nobody in that country knows what is he doing in BiH,” he added.

Speaking to N1 on Thursday evening, Murphy said that Dodik took a dangerous path and assessed his rhetoric as inflammatory. He also said it was not possible to secede Republika Srpska from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
